Helium Balloon Use and Care Guidelines

Helium Balloon Use and Care Guidelines

Thank you for choosing Main St Blooms for your balloon needs. Helium balloons add a touch of magic to any occasion whether it’s a birthday party, baby shower or special event, they are also a lovely addition to include in one of our stunning floral arrangements too. To ensure your safety and enjoyment, please adhere to the following guidelines regarding the use and care of helium balloons.

Plan ahead
We suggest planning ahead with your balloon needs; whilst we do supply a range of latex helium balloons in a variety of colours along with a few foil designs including hearts, stars & smiley faces we are unable to stock a large range with numbers & specific themes.

We encourage you to order your specific designed balloons ahead of time & bring them in store for us to then discuss your needs, allowing us to add our coloured helium balloons to create a balloon bouquet or garland for your special event. Our staff will professionally inflate your balloons to the appropriate size and pressure as close to your event as possible to maximise their float time & look their best during your celebration.

Whilst we will happily fill balloons purchased elsewhere we cannot guarantee the quality & take no responsibility for damage caused by inflation and will be unable to replace or reimburse your balloons should they be faulty.

Storage
If you have collected inflated balloons ahead of your event (not recommended), ensure that you safely store them at home to maximise their floatation time. This means keeping them indoors in an environment with a stable temperature, as sudden increases in warmth or cold can cause balloons to expand out of shape & keep them away from any sharp objects or rough surfaces.

Avoid direct sunlight as prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause balloons to deflate more quickly & ensure balloons are kept away from heaters, fans, and open flames

Handling
Gentle handling of your helium balloons is required to prevent them from popping or deflating prematurely & ensure you keep balloons away from sharp objects, including sharp edges of furniture or decorations. It is also recommended you avoid overcrowding your balloons in one area, as they may rub against each other and pop.

Float times
As a general guide, latex balloons should stay inflated for around 10 hours, and foil balloons with helium will stay afloat for a few days to a week depending on the environment.

Please note that changes in temperature will cause the helium inside the balloons to expand or contract. Latex Balloons will float longer in cooler conditions and shorter in warmer conditions. Float times will be shorter outdoors and vary greatly based on factors such as latex quality, humidity, temperature, altitude, etc. Balloons typically float for half as long in hot, humid weather.

Child supervision
Supervise Children when playing with helium balloons, uninflated or burst balloons can be a choking hazard. NEVER inhale Helium from the balloons as it can cause asphyxiation.

Latex Allergy Aware
Balloons made of natural rubber latex may cause a reaction in those with latex allergies.

Disposal
Please don't release helium balloons outdoors as they are not biodegradable & are harmful to the environment. Dispose of them responsibly by puncturing them and placing them in the bin.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the safe and enjoyable use of helium balloons from our store. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask our staff for assistance. Thank you for choosing us for your balloon needs!
